Serve and Copy Team

Company: Med-Legal, Inc.
Job Status: 40 hours, full-time, M-F, 8a to 5p, with occasional overtime and weekend work.
Job Location: Depends on assignment, statewide throughout California.

MED-LEGAL, Inc. has been in business for twenty five years and is a market leader in document copy services industry. Our primary clients are attorneys and insurance companies.

Job Summary:
  • Scanning documents on a computer, serving subpoenas, picking up documents, having affidavits signed, delivering records. You will be dealing with lawyers, doctors and insurance companies; must look presentable and represent the company in the best manner possible.
Skill/Qualification Requirements:
  • You must be able to pass a general knowledge test. This includes math, grammar, typing, and coding. All applicants must pass this before they will be considered for any position with Defense Pro.
  • You must be familiar with computers and Windows 98/2000. You will need to be able to handle both hardware and software problems while in the field.
  • You must be able to read a map. You will be using a Thomas Guide to setup a route with each stop having various criteria such as time constraints, file size, etc. Routing is another major part of this position.
  • Since you will be dealing in a professional world, ness attire is required.
  • You will need to communicate in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.
Compensation and benefits:
After successfully passing the 90-day probation, you will be eligible for Anthem/Blue Cross of California insurance. Dental and vision are available but it is not covered by the company.

Physical requirements:
You must be able to lift and carry forty to fifty pounds of equipment (laptop and scanner); this includes walking, and climbing stairs. The equipment is transported in a case with wheels, but you must be able to lift it in and out of your vehicle, etc.

Vehicle, insurance, and license requirements:

  • This position requires you to drive your own vehicle, about 50-175 miles each day. In some areas, company rental cars are issued;
    please speak with H/R regarding this;
  • You must carry $100,000/$300,000 of extra liability insurance, and you must list Med-Legal as an interested party on your policy. To qualify for this position you must have a clean driving record and a valid California Driver's License. DMV records are regularly requested, so it is important to maintain a clean driving record to ensure continued employment.
  • NOTE: If you drive your own vehicle, you will also be paid approximately 21 cents per mile for depreciation and maintenance of your vehicle. Your fuel cost is based on the average of a gallon of gasoline from the Auto Club web site. Equation: gallon of gasoline divided by 25 (avg. miles) to get fuel cost, 21 cents plus fuel cost equals total amount. Example: 21 cents + 6 cents = 27 cents per mile
